As enterprise supply chains expand rapidly across the African continent, organizations operating in key growth markets – from Mauritius to Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana – face an increasingly complex risk landscape, which is why vendor risk management software is a growing need for organizations.
Relying on manual spreadsheets, fragmented email checks, and static annual questionnaires creates severe operational blind spots. When third-party vendors, logistics partners, cross-border contractors, and cloud service providers access internal networks or manage critical infrastructure, an unmonitored breach or compliance failure can trigger crippling regulatory penalties, operational downtime, and severe reputational damage.
To demonstrate how enterprise technology bridges these multi-jurisdictional gaps, Revival, the exclusive reseller of Diligent solutions in Africa, recently hosted a comprehensive demonstration of the Diligent Third-Party Risk Management platform.
Here is a full recap of why African compliance and risk teams are adopting dedicated TPRM software, how Diligent solves supply chain challenges, and the key highlights from our live session.
Why African Enterprises Need a Dedicated TPRM Software
Navigating third-party risk across African markets involves unique operational and regulatory complexities that traditional, manual tracking cannot address:
- Navigating Multi-Jurisdictional Regulatory Environments: Organizations operating across borders must comply with a patchwork of national regulations – including Nigeria’s NDPA, Kenya’s Data Protection Act, alongside global benchmarks like the UK Bribery Act and US FCPA. Dedicated software standardizes compliance checks across all active operating jurisdictions.
- Managing Complex, Cross-Border Supply Chains: The acceleration of regional trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) means companies are working with more regional vendors than ever before. Centralized software ensures full visibility over vendor access, financial health, and operational reliability across every region.
- Eliminating “Point-in-Time” Assessment Vulnerabilities: A third-party supplier that passed a due-diligence check six months ago could face financial distress, a cyber breach, or sudden sanctions inclusion today. Continuous risk monitoring alerts risk leaders before a supplier disruption impacts the wider enterprise.
- Mitigating Fraud, Corruption, and Sanctions Exposure: Enterprise teams must maintain rigorous PEPs (Politically Exposed Persons), sanctions, and anti-money laundering (AML) screening to safeguard international investment, maintain banking relationships, and protect brand integrity.
Key Highlights from the Diligent Vendor Risk Management Software Webinar
During the platform walkthrough, Leon Soko, our Head of Presales, demonstrated how Diligent resolves these exact operational pressures through four enterprise-grade capabilities.
1. Centralized Vendor Onboarding & Intake Automation
Managing vendor relationships across disconnected spreadsheets leads to governance breakdowns. During the demo, we illustrated how the Diligent platform unifies all vendor data within a secure, cloud-based repository accessible to teams across different regional offices.
Leon states, “Now if I wanted to add a third party, there are a couple different ways. Number one is we could actually integrate to existing procurement system where you already have identified all your third parties. And so that procurement system will automatically share any information captured there were any new third parties directly to third risk.
You can also add a form on your intranet, that we call an assessment form, where anyone in the organisation can request to work with the third party in terms of registration and that can go through a specific approval workflow before it’s added.
Or you can simply add a third party manually.“
The demo highlighted customizable onboarding portals where regional vendors self-register and complete dynamic questionnaires tailored to their specific operational risk profile, instantly triggering automated approval workflows and reducing onboarding delays.
2. Dynamic Risk Scoring & Multi-Framework Alignment
Not all vendor engagements carry equal risk. A cloud service provider handling cross-border customer data requires vastly different oversight than a local maintenance contractor.
The webinar demonstrated the platform’s configurable risk-scoring engine, which automatically categorizes vendors based on operational criticality, data sensitivity, geography, and financial exposure.
- Automated Risk Triage: Instantly assign high, medium, or low risk tiers based on automated response logic.
- Global & Regional Framework Mapping: Built-in alignment with international standards (ISO 27001, NIST, ESG criteria) and African regional data protection requirements.
- Intelligent Risk Escalation: Automatically route high-risk vendor profiles to specialised internal units (Legal, Information Security, or Internal Audit) for deep-dive reviews.
Instead of constantly reading questionnaires, sending them, remembering to send them, reading documents sent by them, you will can spend time actually managing the specific risks associated with those third parties.
“The goal is to save you time as a third-party manager where you actually can spend time managing the risks associated with third parties,” Leon says during the vendor risk management software demo.
3. Continuous Real-Time Risk & Sanctions Intelligence
A primary reason enterprise teams adopt dedicated software is the danger of relying on periodic reviews. Third-party risk profiles change rapidly in dynamic operating environments.
An assessment completed twelve months ago tells you nothing about a vendor’s vulnerability today. Continuous risk intelligence ensures you hear about critical supply chain threats before they hit the headlines.
With this vendor risk management software, Leon notes, “We’re essentially moving from an area where we had blind spots to absolute clarity when it comes to our third parties with a centralized risk platform with structured workflows and AI risk identification.”
4. Executive Dashboards & Board-Ready Governance
Presenting unified risk intelligence to executive committees and corporate boards across multi-national entities often requires weeks of manual reporting preparation. The final segment of the demo highlighted Diligent’s executive reporting interface.
With real-time, customizable dashboards, risk leaders can instantly aggregate and visualize vendor risk concentration, regional compliance compliance rates, upcoming contract renewals, and high-priority mitigation tasks – complete with a defensible, tamper-proof audit trail for local and international regulators.
Live Q&A Recap
During the interactive Q&A session, attendees raised several top-of-mind operational questions about implementing TPRM software. Here are the first 3:
Q: How does 3rd Risk determine which suppliers require deeper assessments?
A: 3rd Risk does that initial risk assessment with Lexi (the native AI tool embedded in the vendor risk management software), who goes and scans for adverse media, identifies individuals, and also searches the sanctions list. Based on that initial information, you will then get a predictive risk profile that can be set up to high, medium, or low. This can then determine if you need to do a further assessment on that third party.
Q: Are the assessments more in relation to information security or can any type of assessment be designed and managed through the platform?
A: While ISO 2007 and cyber was used as an example in the live demo, any questionnaire – no matter how long – can be designed and managed on 3rd Risk.
Q: Can 3rd Risk be used to schedule assessments and set up automatic reminders for the respondents to complete the assessment?
A: Yes, this is 100% possible. Simply navigate to the third-party’s profile, initiate an assessment, and configure it to be scheduled at your preferred time and frequency. You can also configure when notifications can be sent in relation to the assessment due date, and associate the assessment with any existing contracts on the profile.
